How to Measure Blood Pressure?
Doctors use a cuff-style blood pressure monitor to measure blood pressure and record two numbers. For example, your blood pressure might be 120/80, which means "systolic 120, diastolic 80".
- Systolic Pressure: The highest pressure in the arteries when the heart pumps blood out.
- Diastolic Pressure: The lowest pressure in the arteries just before the heart pumps again.
Normal Fluctuations
Blood pressure varies slightly at different times of the day and on different days, typically fluctuating within a range of 5~10 percentage points.
