How to Measure Blood Pressure?

Doctors use a cuff-style blood pressure monitor to measure blood pressure and record two numbers. For example, your blood pressure might be 120/80, which means "systolic 120, diastolic 80".

• Systolic Pressure: The highest pressure in the arteries when the heart pumps blood out.
• Diastolic Pressure: The lowest pressure in the arteries just before the heart pumps again.

Blood pressure varies slightly at different times of the day and on different days, typically fluctuating within a range of 5~10 percentage points.
